Alternate Routes – The Watershed EP
The five songs on the EP once again highlight the band’s range from
the lilting and melodic “Love Me For Nothing” to the twist the knob
potency of “Good Time Gang,” all with experiential character
embedded in the lyrics. Rounding out the tracks is the crowd favorite,
“Shelly,” which exemplifies the lyrical tension and musical release
intrinsic to the five piece.
Their Vanguard debut, Good and Reckless and True, a
memorable, incredibly confident opening statement from a band that
takes nothing for granted, was welcomed with acclaim. The decidedly
blue collar group’s strong work ethic both in the studio and on the
road have led to a solid fan base, and the band has appeared on Late
Night with Conan O’Brien. Their songs have also been heard on such
shows as Lifetime’s Army Wives, ABC’s October Road, MTV’s Laguna
Beach and The Hills and on the Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj
soundtrack.
Trey Anastasio - Original Boardwalk Style, Live in Atlantic City
Original Boardwalk Style, a live album from Trey Anastasio
and the Undectet released on Trey's own Rubber Jungle Records.
Proceeds from the sale of the album will benefit the Seven Below Arts
Initiative, established by Trey in 2006 to foster artistic development
and support arts education in the state of Vermont.
The album was recorded at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ on
December 30th and 31st of 2006, coming at the end of the band's
holiday tour. The two shows marked the culmination of a long year of
touring and growth of what began as a six-piece sextet in the
beginning of the year and progressed into a full-force eleven member
Undectet.
The raw energy of a well-oiled band at the top of its game permeated
the set as the composer/vocalist/guitarist led The Undectet --
comprised of Tony Hall (bass, vocals), Ray Paczkowski (keyboards), Jeff
Sipe (drums), Christina Durfee (vocals, synthesizer), Jennifer Hartswick
(vocals, trumpet), Peter Apfelbaum (saxophone, flute), Russell
Remington (saxophone, flute), Jeff Cressman (trombone), Dave Grippo
(saxophone) and Cyro Baptista (percussion) -- through electrifying big
band arrangements of his classic songs, replete with big horns and
dazzling Brazilian percussive stylings.
Original Boardwalk Style features over 75 minutes of music,
remixed from the multitrack masters by Trey and Ben Collette at
Rubber Jungle Studios and mastered by Fred Kevorkian at Kevorkian
Mastering. In addition to CD and digital download formats, the album
will be available as a double-gatefold, audiophile grade 180-gram LP
vinyl pressing.
Apostle of Hustle - Eats Darkness
Apostle of Hustle consists of Andrew Whiteman (lead guitarist of
Broken Social Scene), bassist Julian Brown (Feist), and Dean Stone
(Sarah Harmer, Amy Millan) on drums. Each highly regarded for their
individual accomplishments in their craft, together they create a sound
that is incredibly unique, thought-provoking, and fueled by a raw,
explosive energy.
With Eats Darkness, Apostle of Hustle once again pushes the
boundaries of contemporary indie rock. Based on the notion that the
greatest art is often drawn from the darkest of experiences (consuming
darkness to expel light), the band delivers an unconventional and truly
original body of work that will continue to satisfy loyal fans and attract
new listeners.
“Eats Darkness is a serial poem about some struggles people
go through. Battles, from the macro to the micro. Songs about tactics
and attitudes needed in 'life during wartime'. Each track is like tapas at
the banquet of conflict. A small contribution to the articulation of a
fucked and beautiful world.”– Andrew Whiteman
ARC angels - Living in a Dream
The foundation of the ARC Angels was laid at the Austin Rehearsal
Complex (Whose initials inspired the first word of the band's moniker).
There Charlie Sexton had a writing room where he was preparing for
his next solo album, Doyle Bramhall II was writing and rehearsing
under a development deal with Geffen Records, and Chris Layton had a
drum room where he and Tommy Shannon would practice. The initial
idea was for a jamming band to play around town when Stevie Ray
Vaughan was off the road but nothing came of it. But after the death of
Stevie Ray, the ARC Angels became a musical outlet and inspiration for
all four band members.
With the release of their debut album on Geffen records the band
preceded to tour for three years with appearances on David Letterman,
Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien. Overloaded with talent the band came to
an abrupt halt, breaking up in 1994. Chris and Tommy continued on
with Storyville (Another Austin success story) as Doyle and Charlie
revisited there solo careers. Doyle eventually moving on to perform
with Rodger Waters and then to become a member of Eric Clapton's
touring band. While Charlie spent five years on the road with Bob
Dylan.
A decade later after headlining the Austin City Limits Festival in Austin
the ARC Angels have decided to reunite, release a new Live CD/DVD,
tour extensively and ultimately record a new full length studio album
in 2009.
Badly Drawn Boy - Is There Nothing We Could Do?
Is There Nothing We Could Do? is the soundtrack to the ITV film
The Fattest Man In Britain which was written by Caroline Aherne
and Jeff Pope and stars Timothy Spall in the lead role and Bobby Ball as his
agent and sidekick Morris Morrisey. The soundtrack is Badly Drawn Boy's
sixth album in a career spanning ten years that has spawned the Mercury
Award winning The Hour Of Bewilderbeast and 2002's
soundtrack to the film About A Boy.
Band Marino - The Sea & The Beast
Band Marino did the soundtrack/score to a feature film, The Last
Romantic, which made it's debut at SXSW Film 2006 and is
currently playing at both U.S. & international film festivals. The cast
includes James Urbaniak (American Splendor, Henry Fool,
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind), and Shalom Harlow (Vanilla
Sky, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days).
They will be touring throughout most of 2008. You can learn more
about the band on their website www.bandmarino.net.

The Bees/Mother Hips - Split 7
Camera Records is proud to release a split 7" vinyl single on April 22
from two acclaimed bands: Isle of Wight’s Mercury prize-nominated
The Bees (also known as "A Band of Bees" in America) and esteemed
California quartet The Mother Hips. The single offers two brand new
tracks, "Papa Echo" by The Bees and "Childish Dreams" by The Mother
Hips.
The release marks the first studio recordings since 2007’s
Octopus by The Bees and Kiss The Crystal Flake by
The Mother Hips. The record is a must have for aficionados who truly
appreciate the psychedelic-70’s-power-pop movement.
“Papa Echo” from The Bees swirls their well-known psychedelia with
blazing Latin-jazz and salsa rhythms. Side AA’s "Childish Dreams"
from The Mother Hips brings a fresh punch to the bands' repertoire,
"melding heady Revolver-era vocals with Zombies-esque
pop."
The antique green sleeve was screen-printed in NYC with hand-drawn
lettering by Hugh Miller Surratt, the resident poster artist at Michigan
State University from 1970-1975, drawing posters for Miles Davis, The
Byrds, Frank Zappa, and The Grateful Dead, among others.
Before The Music Dies DVD
Narrated by Academy Award® Winner Forest Whitaker, Before The
Music Dies is an unsettling and inspiring look at today’s popular
music industry featuring interviews and performances by Erykah Badu,
Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, Branford Marsalis, ?uestlove and a wide
variety of others. The documentary film has built a passionate
following as “the most important film a music fan will ever see” (XM
Radio) by providing “a balanced overview of the state of the rock scene
of America” (The Wall Street Journal) and adding “passion to the eternal
debate about the industry” (The New York Times).
Last year, Before The Music Dies filmmakers Andrew Shapter
and Joel Rasmussen walked away from traditional Hollywood
distribution to instead pursue a large-scale grassroots release with B-
Side Entertainment. Since its release in November 2006, the film has
screened over 200 times in over 130 North American markets with
hundreds of additional events anticipated worldwide during 2007.
Bipolaroid - Transparent Make-Believe
Featuring Twist & Shout's own Ben
Sumner!
New Orleans-based Bipolaroid is one of the past year's big surprises in
psychedelic music. Bipolaroid's CD Transparent Make-believe
conjures early Pink Floyd with the addition of strong, distinctive
original material. The core line-up is made up of Ben Glover (vocals
and guitar), Ben Sumner (guitars and keyboards), Tom Stevens (bass)
and Wallace Lester (drums), augmented on some tracks by Judith
Armistead (violin), Richard Woehrle (viola) and Jonathan Gerhardt
(cello) of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Bipolaroid is not a Syd
Barrett tribute act but rather, like the very best of new psychedelic
music, a band that takes the conventions of the mid to late '60s and
expands on the genre's unrealized possibilities.
"Farewell And Godspeed" starts the album in a brooding "Astromony
Domine" mood with Ben Glover's lyrics and vocals also bringing Bob
Pollard of Guided by Voices to mind. As if that weren't cool enough, the
second track "King Of Cabbages" is a chamber psych masterpiece that
leaves me wondering why Pink Floyd or The Pretty Things never came
up with something quite so stunning. "Callous Affair With Lady Godiva"
continues the hitting streak with more clever surreal lyrics and a sense
that you have heard this before but then again never quite in this way.
The mellotron comes out on "Insect Religion", providing a creepy slow
counterpoint to the nimble acoustic guitar and vocals. "Looking Glass"
and "Galileo's Son" could be outtakes from the post-Barrett Pink
Floyd's Obscured By Clouds (and in fact they would be among
the highlights on that venerable album). The tremolo guitar and tape
reverse of "Dimension 5" make it arguably the most psychedelic song
on a very psychedelic album. I guess you could say that the vocals
sound kind of weary and a touch flat on "Old Witch" and "Madeline".
Then again, this detached delivery is not really flaw as it may actually
add to the sense of timeless authenticity. You can certainly find some
laconic vocals on the original '60s classics of the genre. "Sympathy For
The Swine" has a beat like The Stones' "Heart Of Stone" and a sing-
song melody that goes takes the track in a different direction. The
sweeping vocal refrain is also very satisfying. "Time Machine" is a
fitting epic closer, bringing together mellotron, tape reverse and
vintage electronics with fantastic drumming and lyrics that tie together
historical images in an ingenious, off-handed way.
Bipolaroid succeeds in presenting a fresh personality while also
offering an embellished memory of the original psychedelic period.
Although I didn't hear Transparent Make-believe until late
December, I just had to make room for this gem on my best of 2003
lists. This band really grabbed my attention. For more info, go to
www.bipolaroid.com.

Black Gold - Tragedy & Legacy
Black Gold is the new collaboration between Eric Ronick (Panic at the
Disco, Ambulance Ltd.) and Than Luu (M. Ward, Rachel Yamagata,
shushshush), formed at the beginning of 2006 while Eric and Than
were
on tour with Ambulance Ltd. and the Killers. After touring, they
immediately set up at Thinman Studios in Brooklyn and began writing
and
recording. The result is the forthcoming album Rush, an
addictive
collection of songs evoking T-Rex, Satie, Chic, Quincy Jones-era
Michael
Jackson, Bowie, the brothers Gibb and the Band.
Boise Cover Band - Unoriginal Artists
Boise Cover Band was a studio project featuring Doug Martsch, Ned Evett,
Ian Waters, and John Mullin. Unoriginal Artists features an entire
album full of covers ranging from artists such as David Bowie, Gregory
Issacs, Captain Beefheart, the Delusions and others!
Bonde Do Role - Solta O Frango Maxi-Single
Hailing from Curitiba, Brazil, Bonde Do Role have created a mash up of
Baile Funk beats and playfully profane raps in their naitve Portugese
tongue. Bonde do Role’s dance party punk is the sound of 2007.
Discovered by DJ/Producer Diplo, Bonde Do Role released their first
domestic single "Melo do Tabaco" on Diplo’s newly formed Mad Decent
label. Diplo went on to co-produce Bonde’s single "Solta o Frango" for
Domino Records and his credits will further extend to Bonde’s full
length album, currently slated for June 2006, as the executive
producer.
“Bonde Do Role is like diggin’ through the garbage in Brazil and using
the pieces and making a club mess turned up the volume plus 10. It’s
like death samba metal bass with Cooledit Pro cause I already played
out that “novo” Beastie Boys thing.” – Diplo

The Boy Least Likely To – The Best B-Sides Ever
hello fans,
we thought you might like to know a bit more about the b sides and
rarities compilation that we've put together. this is what the cover looks
like. we were thinking that because b sides are usually songs that don't
make it on to albums or aren't good enough to be a sides, that we
would remake the original cover for the best party ever but with
characters that were rejected from the original drawings we did for
being too ugly or weird.??
i hope you like it.
Randall Bramlett - Meantime
Randall Bramblett's beautiful new CD The Meantime, marks a
departure for the highly acclaimed multi-instrumentalist songwriter
who is best known for his work with Steve Winwood, Traffic, Levon
Helm, Sea Level, Gregg Allman, Widespread Panic and more. On his
8th solo album, Bramblett performs primarily on acoustic piano, organ,
and lead vocals. The CD features 12 original tracks, including some of
Bramblett's earliest songs such as "Sacred Harmony," "Witness For
Love," and "One More Rose" as well as newer, unreleased compositions.
A sultry blend of ambient folk, jazz, traditional piano and seductive
vocals, the music on The Meantime is romantic and
mesmerizing in the vein of Norah Jones or The Blue Nile.
Brasilintime: Batucada Com Discos DVD

Broken Spindles - Document Number One
With Broken Spindle’s latest and most personal release, Document
Number One, Petersen ventures into exciting territory. For this
album, Petersen composed for a 22-piece orchestra, and often lets the
orchestral players dominate the songs.
The CD began as a score for an independent film, then Petersen
expanded and changed the music to express his vision rather than be
in service to the needs of a movie. The result is the all-instrumental
Document Number One which breaks new ground while
continuing the explorations of a musical innovator. As Petersen says,
“It is all instrumental, part mood, part ambiance, part driving
electronics.”
Document Number One is the first of a series of limited
edition albums released by Petersen on his Kaput Pin label. Each CD
cover was silk screened and then hand printed by Petersen.
Marc Broussard -- Must be the Water EP
In an effort to get you lovely fans something fresh to listen to, the
band and I created a makeshift studio aboard the cruise ship
“Imagination,” home of The Rock Boat VIII. We knew it would be a
tough task, but we got more than we bargained for. With electrical
surges, hard drive crashes, high seas, vocal ailments and other Rock
Boat shenanigans, we all had doubts about whether or not we’d be
able to pull this off. Thankfully we didn’t give up and the band played
on! I wasn’t able to record my vocals on the boat however. Instead I
hopped into a studio immediately after landing in Amsterdam, while
there performing on Dutch TV. Vocals were recorded, files were
uploaded, songs were mixed and mastered. Not bad for 3 days work
in the middle of the ocean, a foreign country, cross several states and
through cyber space. Though it’s only a glimpse of what the future has
in store, I think these 5 songs will make you dance and maybe even
make you cry. I hope you enjoy!
Peace, love, & chicken grease,
Marc Broussard
Zac Brown - Live From Bonaroo
On the opening night of the 2009 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, the
Zac Brown Band electrified a tent full of thousands with their biggest hits
and brand new Southern Rock jems. This CD of highlights from the set,
includes their current chart topping hit “Toes” and their live staple tribute
to Charlie Daniels “Devil Went Down To Georgia”
Buckethead-- From the Coop
Recorded in 1988, these 19 tracks are the very first Buckethead
recordings, predating all other releases by three years. For a Beatles
fan, this would be the equivalent of discovering an album's worth of
good recordings from 1959. All of the earmarks of Buckethead's stellar
guitar style are present on these recordings. Original cover artwork by
Buckethead. The CD booklet includes reproductions of the first
Buckethead artist bio and Buckethead's handwritten titles on the 1988
demo tapes.
“It's all music recorded in 1988. Basically, Buckethead made me three
demo tapes that year, and when I was searching for the tapes of what
became Acoustic Shards I rediscovered these three demo
cassettes in a box of interview tapes. They are his earliest recordings,
aside from a rehearsal or two, but it's all there -- the astounding
technique, the lyrical beauty, the incredible shredding and popping. He
was working with one of those small portable multi-track recorders,
and a drum machine, but his playing is so clearly head-and-shoulders
above what others were doing in 1988.
In the CD booklet, I've included reproductions of Buckethead's
handwriting from the 1988 cassettes, as well as the first-ever
Buckethead bio, from 1989. It's pretty funny and true to what later
became the Buckethead legend.”
Buckethead - Acoustic Shards
Acoustic Shards, recorded during the same period as the
Young Buckethead DVDs, showcases a gentler but equally exhilarating
side of young Buckethead. As producer Jas Obrecht explains,
“Traditionally, the truest test of a musician is how he plays
unaccompanied, and on this record Buckethead is unsurpassed. The
music was recorded in real time, without overdubs or effects devices –
just Buckethead in a living room, playing a borrowed acoustic Guild
guitar. Portions of Acoustic Shards sound like Django
Reinhardt meets Ornette Coleman meets young Eddie Van Halen
meets, well, that which is uniquely and lovably Buckethead. Other
tracks are soothing enough for the Starbucks crowd. Much of it was
composed on the spot, and measure for measure, this CD has some of
the most exhilarating guitar music on record.”
Builders & The Butchers - Where The Roots All Grow
The Builders & The Butchers were originally never supposed to play a
plugged in show. They were meant to play street corners, funerals,
basement parties, but never any place with a stage or a PA, but best
laid plans often change. These 5 Alaskan transplants to Portland could
not stand in the way of growth and committed themselves to the band.
They packed up and went on the road, touring with bands as diverse
The Decemberists, Brand New, Amanda Palmer, Portugal. The Man,
Murder By Death, Manchester Orchestra and more. Bringing a version
of Southern Gothic music that only someone from the northern most
state could, the band developed a passionate following for their
energetic and engaging show. The Builders songs take on an almost
sing-a-long quality at their live shows encouraging audience
participation with even the most cynical of crowds. This recording
captures the spirit of The Builders live at two sold out shows on one
night in March of 2009 at Mississippi Studios. No overdubs, no auto-
tunue, no "fixing it in the mix". Just the band live.
Burning Spear - Jah is Real LP
Jah is Real the most anticipated album from the legend himself
Burning Spear on his own label. This new studio CD contains 14 brand
tracks with base guitar player Bootsy Collins and Bernie Worrel and a
remix of "Step It" by Mr. Hardgroove.
Burning Spear - Jah Is Real
Reggae legend Burning Spear has been through more than his share of
trials, but the biggest test of Spear’s positive message of unity, peace,
and love came on his first trip to Kenya last year.
The country had been rocked with violence when a bitter election
campaign sparked intergroup conflict that raged for months. The
United Nations called on Spear, who had adopted at the start of his
career the nom de guerre of Kenyan freedom fighter and first president
Jomo Kenyatta, to perform in Nairobi. Spear was welcomed like a long-
lost king and stayed on the spot where Kenyatta fought for the
country’s independence from the U.K. Nonetheless, the concert
organizer was so nervous about the potential for bloodshed among
listeners that she was sick to her stomach.
“Kenya was really rough at that time; people bang against people,”
Spear recalls, in his Jamaican accent. “All the guys were fighting each
other, hurting each other in some viscous and terrible ways.” But the
65,000 Kenyans gathered at the outdoor venue came together
peacefully, waved their flags, and walked home without incident. “I
bring them together for about three hours. They were hugging and
jumping up together. One can see the force of the music.”
This force is evident on Spear’s new album, Jah Is Real, the
latest in a long, productive career that began with a chance meeting
with Bob Marley and has finally reached a place of peace and self-
sufficiency that shows the relevance of Marcus Garvey in the age of the
Internet.
Burning Spear will be performing live at Twist on September 19th @ 6
p.m.!!!
Clare Burson - Thieves
Clare Burson’s second full-length album, Thieves, follows 2003’s
critically acclaimed The In-Between and 2005’s dark, ambient
Idaho EP. Clare has sold over 5000 copies of her first album
(The In-Between) via touring, key press and incredible outreach
to her fans – that’s without any label, media company or other
promotional support. Now that Clare has a great publicist, a booking
agent, and a fantastic distribution company - Thieves will reach
much greater heights!
John Cage - Variations VII DVD
In 1966 ten New York artists and thirty engineers and scientists from
Bell Telephone Laboratories collaborated on a series of innovative
dance, music and theater performances, 9 Evenings: Theatre &
Engineering, held in October at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York
City. The artists were John Cage, Lucinda Childs, Öyvind Fahlström,
Alex Hay, Deborah Hay, Steve Paxton, Yvonne Rainer, Robert
Rauschenberg, David Tudor and Robert Whitman. Archival material has
been assembled into ten films, each of which reconstructs the artist's
original work and uses interviews with the artists, engineers and
performers to illuminate the artistic, technical and historical aspects of
the work.
Variations VII, performed at 9 Evenings, was the next to last in
John Cage’s series of indeterminate works that he had begun in 1958,
which made increasing use of electronic equipment and systems. This
DVD documents the only complete performance of Variations
VII and also presents a stereo audio recording of the full 85
minutes of the performance.
Joey Cape – Bridge
Joey Cape is best known as the frontman of Fat Wreck Chords' act
Lagwagon. He has also moonlighted in the side-project, Bad Astronaut.
After releasing a split CD with No Use for a Name frontman, Tony Sly,
Joey is releasing his debut solo album through Suburban Home Records.
The album features 12 beautifully written and orchestrated acoustic
tracks. The diehard fans of Joey's other projects are really excited for the
release of Bridge. Fans of Elliott Smith, Matt Pryor, and
Sundowner take note.
Captain Clegg - Rob Zombie Presents...
Terrors of the horror underworld Captain Clegg and the Night
Creatures, will be bringing their brand of bloody and macabre
psychobilly
music to the teeming masses in the upcoming film Halloween
II, directed by Rob Zombie. The band’s infamous leader, Jesse
Dayton, an
Austin, Texas-based singer-guitarist best known for setting strings
aflame with his very touch has played with the likes of Johnny Cash,
Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson, and recorded the Banjo & Sullivan
record that was released for Zombie’s 2005 flick The Devil’s
Rejects.
Similarly, Rob Zombie Presents Captain Clegg And The Night
Creatures will be unleashed on an unsuspecting public.
“I had already worked with Rob on the original Banjo & Sullivan record
for the film, The Devils Rejects, so...We riffed on it and talked
about possible influences... Zombie would say, "how ‘bout Buck Owens
meets Iggy?"....I said, "I love the Sonics and Johnny Horton!"...Zombie
then said, "make it girl crazy"...I said, "then we have to have go-go
dancers"...and to be frank, we were just having a blast with the whole
thing! I later wrote most of these songs in a haunted suite at the
LaMothe Hotel on Esplanade St. in the French Quarter in New
Orleans....”
“Rob and I have built a whole alter-ego around this character and the
result is the Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures record featuring
songs from the film. Rob and I are putting this record out together
combining both our teams. The songs are a new, frightening, raw
hybrid sound. Stay tuned and be afraid… be very afraid.”

Various Artists – All Aboard: A Tribute to Johnny Cash
Anchorless Records will be donating all of the net proceeds from the
sale of this tribute to The Syrentha Savio Endowment.
This non-profit organization helps to cover the costs associated with
the treatment of breast cancer to underprivileged women in need. It
was started by Mark Beemer who is also the founder of Shirts for a
Cure. In putting together this tribute there have been a couple goals
which carried on throughout: In assembling some notable staples in
the punk/indie community to contribute their time and effort to this
record, we hope to bring the music community together in sharing and
rejoicing in their mutual love and respect for Johnny Cash and the
impact he has had on their lives and musical careers- while also being
able to raise money for a wonderful and worth-while cause. It is our
hope, that those fans of the bands on the record will seek out and
listen to the original versions of the songs being covered and allow a
whole new generation to enjoy and reflect on the music of Johnny
Cash.
Cassettes Won't Listen - Small-Time Machine
CASSETTES WON’T LISTEN is the brainchild of New York-based multi-
instrumentalist Jason Drake. What started as a bedroom project
blossomed through friends and resulted in airplay on WOXY and KEXP, as
well as high praise from Perez Hilton, Spin, and New York press. Get into
CASSETTES WON’T LISTEN before they get picked up for some Volkswagen

Although estimates of the number of people killed by the conflict in
Darfur vary widely from 200,000 to 400,000, what is certain is that
more than 2 million people have fled their homes because of the
fighting, and 4 million are now in need of humanitarian assistance—
making this one of the worst crises in the world today.

The songs were recorded at Ill Eagle, the studio of Zeus members
Carlin Nicholson and Mike O'Brien (also the producers of Rat A Tat
Tat), and have a slightly different vibe than the full-length album.
Together, Rat A Tat Tat and To Wit To Woo show
Collett at his most playful, robust and revelatory.

Crooked Fingers - Forfeit/Fortune LP
Fast facts:
This is the fifth album by Crooked Fingers, the band fronted by former
Archers Of Loaf singer Eric Bachmann.
Vinyl is strictly limited to 1000 copies, all pressed on white vinyl.
The cover features some tasteful nudity, but a detailed sticker will
cover some of God’s finest work.
Vinyl includes a non-CD bonus track, “La Maleta Fea,” a brand new
version of a song that appeared previously on a Merge Records
compilation.
Vinyl includes a download coupon—for everything except the bonus
track.
CD will be released on a new label started by Bachmann, Red Pig.
Previous Crooked Fingers/Eric Bachmann releases have appeared on
Merge, Warm, and Saddle Creek.
Neko Case lends her beautiful pipes to the album-closing duet “Your
Control.”
Crooked Fingers - Forfeit/Fortune
After releasing albums on indie powerhouses Merge and Saddle Creek,
Forfeit / Fortune will be the debut release on Red Pig /
Constant Artists, Inc. (more info below on both imprints), and will be
distributed exclusively to 20 key independent retailers in the United
States. These hand picked retailers have been some of the most
supportive fans of Crooked Fingers to date, and this explicitly not-big-
box-accessible album is a nod to those retailers who have shown
support for the band over the past eight years of releases.
Asked why the label change at this point in his career, Bachmann said:
“It's certainly not because those labels aren't a good place to put out
your records. Mostly it's because there are so many avenues online to
do it without a label… Also, in terms of the independent record stores
we're working with, there's a history. At most of these stores, I've done
in-store performances over the years or know the owner or an
employee pretty well... And I'm pretty sure those guys sold a lot more
of my records to fans than Tower or Borders or Barnes and Nobles or
WalMart or Satan. I'm thankful to them and would rather just do
business with them, really. It's not like 17 years in these big retailers
are going to start giving a shit about Crooked Fingers...”
Rivers Cuomo – Live at Fingerprints
This in-store was held as a celebration for the release of Alone II-
The Home Recordings Of Rivers Cuomo. From a post on his website
Rivers invited super fans from across the country to dress sharp and join
him in a make shift band where they would get to pick the set list. That
set list ended up being a mix of Weezer classics as well as obscure fan
favorites. The 150 lucky "friends" had never met or practiced together, but
without fear came to rock out their favorite songs with their favorite guy…
as you will see this was a magical night.
Billy Currell - Kentucky Fried Tender (Book)
Women, Chicken, Money. The Trinity of Tenderness. This is the teaching
of Dr. Billy Currell as he takes the reader on a philosophical journey that
recasts the evolution of man as being inextricably connected with the
Chicken. He shows how chicken (and fried chicken in particular) led to
mankind’s big brains, the development of romantic love, the creation of
money, and the rise of feminism. Also he shows how it has become the
loadstone of peace, security, and capitalism.
