Hard Working Americans Live at Twist and Shout on Monday, July 21st
Last night we had the supergroup Hard Working Americans perform at Twist and Shout. The band consists of singer Todd Snider, bassist Dave Schools (of Widespread Panic), Neal Casal (of Chris Robinson Brotherhood and Ryan Adams & the Cardinals) on guitar and vocals, Chad Staehly (of Great American Taxi) on keyboards, Jesse Aycock on guitar, and Duane Trucks on drums. There were three amazing draws on stage between Schools, Casal and Snider, and we had a huge crowd of well over two hundred. Fans were thrilled to get an intimate experience with the whole band. Normally bands strip down their gear when they play here, and they do a semi-acoustic set, but HWA brought the full show to their fans. The set rocked so hard, it was like seeing them in a large venue. They got loose, and into the groove. Todd Snider had high energy on stage, and really brought out the spirit in the crowd. I thought Neal Casal was one of the most talented musicians I have met, and it was a pleasure seeing him dig through our vinyl racks. They all bought stacks of LPs, and it shows that not only are these guys playing killer music, but they are all around lovers of music. During the meet and greet the band was so charming, funny and easy going it made the night feel very special. We sold out of the self-titled Hard Working Americans albums by the end of the night. We have seen their popularity grow by leaps and bounds just in the last few weeks, so I insist you catch this band while they are still “underground.” Everyone here was blown away by just how good this band is live and they have a well deserved admiration from their fanbase. These guys are the real thing: Super Stars and Super People.
