Judy Collins Meet & Greet at Twist and Shout on Tuesday, July 29th
Last night we hosted a meet and greet with folk legend, and Colorado Music Hall of Fame Inductee Judy Collins. She addressed the crowd for a few minutes before signing and meeting with fans. Judy told the crowd about how she used to live in Denver, and how she attended East High School, which is across the street from our store. She told some funny jokes and sang a few numbers from her latest album and DVD Live In Ireland. Judy talked a little bit about how she loves the resurgence of vinyl, which gave the audiophiles a thrill. Many fans were overwhelmed with emotion, and each person had a significant story. One fan had a photo of her grandfather standing in Twist and Shout holding a Judy Collins LP, he passed away a week after that photo, so she brought that LP in to be signed by Judy. Everyone that was here had a special place in their heart for Judy Collin’s music, so it was a great feeling in the room. It was a joy to facilitate this kind of powerful emotional experience for fans. Judy Collins was charming, sharp, funny and beautiful. I was a little star struck, and forgot so many things I wanted to say, but just being around her was a true perk of working at Twist and Shout. I am so thankful I was able to be with her and her lovely fans, it was a memorable night I will always cherish.
