Instore Performance/Signing: May 23, 2012
Wrap-up for the Civil Wars live at Twist and Shout May 23rd
Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting an in-store performance with Grammy award winners the Civil Wars. The store was packed with over three hundred and eighty music fans. The good looking power duo launched into a strong set of favorites including their unique cover of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean. Their voices were so wonderfully clear and lovely that I had a moment of overwhelming emotions. I felt ecstatic that we hosted such a large group of fans mid-week in the middle of the day. This far exceeded my expectations for the day. The set was so charming and light hearted that we all felt enamored by the pair. Joy Williams and John Paul White played a stripped down acoustic set which left the audience screaming with applause. They took their time signing autographs for over three hundred fans, and were tender and sincere with each person. One member of the audience was even moved to tears, and the band was very caring which seems rare in the fast paced world of touring musicians. I felt honored to have them here, and very proud to host a large family event in our store. Joy was eight months pregnant, so instead of making her climb a ladder to sign our red guitar like we always have bands do, Paul climbed up and got the pick we made especially for Charlie Louvin. They were afraid to dishonor Charlie, but I can tell you he would have loved this pair and it seems fitting to me that we will have them commemorated together on our wall of fame.
